Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for infrastructure technicians

Level 3 advanced Apprenticeship for infrastructure technicians

Typical Duration: 24 months

An Infrastructure Technician provides support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non-routine problems. The Infrastructure Technician sets people up on systems and provides support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity. Typical Job Roles: Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician, Network Support

Delivery model

The programme is delivered using a blended approach of remote learning and classroom based lab days. The majority of courses will involve remote learning of theory and principles for approximately 6 weeks, followed by a week of classroom based training and final exam.

During the second phase of the programme the learner brings together a portfolio of work demonstrating their competencies, completes a project, and meets with an end point assessor to achieve their Apprenticeship.

The GB Training Academy

The Cisco Networking Academy at GB Training was the first private Cisco Academy in the UK, in an arena previously dominated by colleges and universities. GB Training, in partnership with Cisco and Birmingham City University, has developed an extremely successful academy whose primary aim is to offer Cisco Academy courses to Apprentices, something that colleges and universities have previously found logistically very difficult to do. The academy has exceptionally high achievement rates and learner satisfaction, and is equipped with the most current Cisco hardware for each course we teach.

Why not just complete with a learning partner?

Cisco learning partners are not Cisco Academies and do not have access to the vast resources and teaching which the Academy can offer. You will also find that the cost of achieving your Certifications with a learning partner is somewhat higher than funding an Apprenticeship. The Network Engineer Level 4 Apprenticeship contains both the CCNA Routing & Switching Certification and the CCNA Security Certification, in addition to a Level 4 Diploma in Network Systems Architecture and the achievement of an overall Apprenticeship which is at an advanced level (equivalent to the first year of degree study), and has been specifically designed to meet the needs of employers.

What skills will they gain?

Learners will gain skills in Networking, Operating Systems, Cloud Services, Coding and a broader understanding of Business IT Processes as defined by the ITIL Infrastructure.
